On Tuesday, February 13th while Mike was on vacation in Phoenix, AZ he experienced a medical emergency. Mike had a heart attack which led to cardiac arrest and was transported to the hospital via ambulance. The hospital resuscitated Mike and flew him to the Abrazo Heart Hospital in Phoenix where Mike had a blood clot removed from a pre-existing stent. Because Mike's heart was still weak, the decision to place Mike on ECMO was made.

Mike underwent the ECMO procedure on Wednesday, February 14th, and he has been responding well to the treatment. This incident also weakened Mike's kidneys, and he was placed on dialysis which has resulted in some positive changes for his kidney function.

On Thursday, February 15th, Mike's sedation and paralytics were lowered in order to assess brain function. We are so happy to share that Mike was able to open his eyes, and move his fingers and toes which indicates he is still neurologically intact.

Within days, Mike's family members made the journey to AZ to see Mike and be by his side. His family is so grateful for the first responders and hospital staff who have been working tirelessly to take care of Mike. Mike has a long journey ahead of him, but we are hopeful in his ability to heal and pull through. We remain hopeful for a full recovery for Mike, and we welcome the thoughts and prayers of his loved ones.
