Mike Seratt Mike Seratt's Journey

First post: Mar 8, 2017
In January 2017, Mike went to the Doctor for a physical and had blood work. The blood work showed that he was iron-deficient. The Doctor sent him for an Endoscopy and Colonoscopy . On 2/28/17, We were told immediately after the Colonoscopy that Mike has Colon Cancer. This is when our world was turned upside down. The next several days were filled with CT Scans, blood work, stress tests, and xrays. We were told that the Cancer is in the colon at the cecum, appendix, muscle wall, fatty tissue, and in a couple of Lymph Nodes. We were devastated when we heard it was Stage 3. (No family history, minimal symptoms-nothing leading us to believe anything like this was wrong) On 3/3/17, Mike was admitted into the hospital after an ER visit for shoulder pain (referred pain from trapped air and from the colon area). That afternoon. He went to surgery to get a Port placed for Chemo. We were told that Mike would have to have 3-4 months of chemo 3 x per week every two weeks. Surgery. Then another 6 months of chemo. Chemo has been postponed a couple of times but his first day of treatment is now scheduled for 3/8/17. Mike has had an amazing attitude and has just been ready to get started with treatments. We are staying strong in our Faith and taking one day at a time. We know that God has a plan... we may not like the plan right now... but we know we are on this journey for a reason.
