Welcome to our CaringBridge website.  We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. .  Mike was recently diagnosed with throat cancer and will be starting his 7 week journey of healing on 5/1.   He is getting treated by amazing Doctors at Iowa City University.  His treatments will consist of radiation daily for the 7 weeks and 3 chemo treatments.   He recently has had oral sugery to remove 4 teeth (luckily all in the back) and some bone from his jaw and is healing nicely.  We were not aware of the amount of preperation that goes into this before you can even get the treatments started.   There have been lots of MRI's, PET scans and CT scans along with biopsies of his neck and throat.  


We are so grateful for all the prayers and love being sent our way.  Mike is in great spirits and ready to get this race started.  Mike is a strong guy and so fun, always postitive!  It's not often that I've seen him tear up.   I just wanted to let you know that he was very moved by everyones comments  of love on his Facebook page.  Thank you!  My goal is to take as much time off of work as finances will allow using FMLA , luckily my work family is amazing too.   .
