Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Mike has been diagnosed with squamos cell carcinoma of the tongue.  He is scheduled for surgery to remove part of his tongue and nearby lymph nodes in his neck on May 15 at Methodist Hospital Dallas.  Dr. Kang will also  reconstruct his tongue using tissue from his forearm during the same surgery which could be 6-7 hours long.

There is some good news!  His PET scan showed that the cancer has not metastasized so he should not have to undergo any radiation or chemo after the surgery.

He will undergo therapy for swallowing, eating and speech after the procedure.

We are told that Mike will be in the hospital for about a week.  This will not be an easy time for him,  but he will be holding onto the thought that he should be cancer-free after the surgery.

Again, thanks for your prayers and well wishes.
