Mike Hamann Enjoy the Days...

Welcome to our CaringBridge website.  We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. I'd like to take a moment to thank JD Optekar for taking time out of his life to create a GoFundMe page to help our family pay for medical expenses related to my my ongoing challenges with Clear Cell Renal Carcinoma.   I'm forever grateful to JD for his caring, help, and his guitar playing abilities.  I was fortunate to attend one of his gigs at Summerfest this year.  If you haven't had the opportunity to watch Tweed Funk, take a few hours out of your busy day and check them out; they are incredible! Tweed Funk's lead vocalist, the legendary Joseph "Smokey" Holman is an amazing entertainer!


I want to begin by thanking God for his blessing and guidance through my life. I also  want to thank my students for their hugs and continued enthusiasm for life, as well as their families, and my colleagues for their support, hugs, words of encouragement, and stories they share. I was completely overwhelmed by the immediate response, support, and encouraging words from those that donated their hard-earned finances to help us out in time of need; Again, I am forever grateful for your help and connectedness. I also want to thank my family and my friends who are always there to help with anything and share their love in so many ways.  Thank you to everyone for your love and support. Last, but not least, I want to thank my immediate family: my parents, Bev, Ron, Denise, Dick, and Doe as well as my wife Sandy and my daughter Lucy who live with me every day. 


In closing, I hope to update you on my life as a person living with cancer as much as possible through this CaringBridge. I have the mobile app to help me with that.  My apologies to all of those Facebookers out there.  I continue to go Facebookless, not because I don't want to keep in touch, but because I feel I would stick my face in that app all of the time and neglect to address those daily duties like doing the dishes, mowing the lawn, and spending time with those around me.  Maybe someday I will change my mind but for now that's how it is.  Enjoy the Days...
