Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On June 10th, Mike was cleaning fish and collapsed. Luckily he was not alone: a buddy was also cleaning fish and a Dr. was in the area. CPR was started and he was brought back. He was then flown to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks where he was placed into the ICU.  He intubated and sedated. Two arterial blockages were found: One is at 50% and the other is at 99% blocked. They were able to use 2 stents to open the one blockage. They found that the second blockage was "chronic" meaning that it had been present for a while. In fact, his body had created it's own work-around. This means that surgery will not be necessary. He is on a permanent dose of blood thinners (aspirin and Plavix?) to keep the stents open.
