Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.  After many months of Mike not feeling well, he went to ER on May 30, 2019.  Things quickly unraveled from there and was preliminarily diagnosed with Stage IV bile duct cancer.  Yesterday, a stent was inserted into his bile duct to allow his liver to drain appropriately. This should help alleviate the major symptoms he has been having of severe pain and nausea. Also, a biopsy was performed, during this procedure and confirmed by pathology (in the OR) that it is cancer.   This morning his chemo port was put in to start treatment.  Laparoscopy was also done to send off to get a genetic footprint of this cancer to help coordinate best chemo plan. At this time, surgery is not an option as the cancer has metastasized.  We meet with the oncology team at the cancer center at Froedtert/Medical College of Wi on Monday.  The last thing the oncologist says to us yesterday was “you are a 45 year old man that is too young to have this disease.  You do not fit into the statistics you see online”.  ❤️  Hope.
