Welcome to Mike Corgiat's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.
On September 12th, Mike was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic and liver cancer. As you can imagine, the shock of this diagnosis has been traumatically life-altering for Mike and his family. The physical, mental, and emotional strain has been heartbreaking as the waves of fears, tears, and feelings of helplessness have gripped him and his family. This is a very aggressive form of cancer, and so Mike and his Oncologist have chosen the most aggressive type of chemotherapy as treatment. As we would expect, Mike is fighting this disease with fierce tenacity and a Herculean amount of courage! The cancer has caused tremendous pain for Mike, and his first round of chemotherapy was no less than brutal! He did not respond well to it and was required to stay in the hospital for days. He has lost an incredible amount of weight due to his inability to eat or drink normally, and it has been extremely difficult for him to deal with his physical loss of energy and strength. He is scheduled for his second round of chemo on October 17th. The Oncologist has had to adjust the chemo cocktail in hopes of eliminating the horribly crippling affects of the treatment. While we felt it necessary to disclose in some detail what Mike is going through physically, the true reason for setting up this site is to call upon all family and friends for prayers and encouragement. Mike needs a Prayer Army of support! Up until now, he has always been very healthy and an incredible source of strength and support for his family and friends. His generosity with his time and talents has been a constant gift for family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Mike now needs us to lift him up with our love and care! Please share your prayers, wishes, a cherished photo, or an uplifting story, so that Mike, Gaye, and Katie know they are not alone in this fight. Since the diagnosis was so unexpected and a rapid response was required, we have not been able to reach out to communicate with everyone who is part of Mike's life. Therefore, if you know of others who would like to reach out to Mike, please let them know he has a CaringBridge site. Mike will post updates on a regular basis.
Prayers take the desires in our hearts and lift them to a loving, merciful, and listening God! Mike's faith in our Lord God will give him strength in his battle, and your love and prayers will give him comfort!
