Mike (Mickey) Collins was recently having some health issues and went to the doctor. He was admitted to Northside hospital the evening of Friday, July 20th. After many tests we were told the following:

He has a tennis ball size tumor in his liver. The tumor is blocking the liver and causing his bilirubin to increase, which makes him yellow. They placed a drain from his liver to relieve the fluid and hopefully decrease his bilirubin. His numbers are slowly coming down but are still high at 17. They also found smaller tumors in his lungs which are making him short of breath.

Tests also revealed that he has cardiomyopathy and an aortic valve issue. He is now taking medication that is helping with these problems.

They have diagnosed him with stage 4 liver cancer. Chemotherapy is not an option because of his current cardiac issues and his bilirubin is to high at 17 (needs to be under 3).

Dad, Mom, Vince, Roger and myself have all decided that home hospice is the best option. Our hope is that he will be in the comforts of his own home, as active as possible and receive the necessary care from hospice.

While Dad gets settled at home please send your well wishes through email or cards. Mom will share them with Dad. Please continue to pray for him and our family during this time.
