Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.  For those of you who don’t know, Mickey suffered from a hemorrhagic stroke late Sunday afternoon.  She had been doing her favorite thing:  working outside and keeping her yard beautiful.  My dad had encouraged her to come inside,  it she just wanted to work a little longer.   Norm found her just a short time later, collapsed on their back deck.  She was conscious but my dad quickly realized an ambulance was needed.  Once at th ER, a CT scan revealed a large hematoma that needed to be removed by performing a craniotomy.  She underwent that procedure around midnight Sunday.  She tolerated the surgery well and the surgeon was very pleased with results.  She has been in ICU since then.  She continues to be intubated, but is breathing on own with only minimal support from the ventilator.  She has good strength on her right side and will follow commands.  For now, the left side is not showing much movement, but we continue to hope and pray.  She has not opened her eyes yet either.  The doctor is hoping to extubate her once we can get her a little bit stronger and following a few more commands.  We know she is understanding a lot when we talk to her!  Pastor Luther came today and gave a beautiful speech/prayer to her while holding her hand.  I know she understood, because she immediately began moving, squeezing his hand and her heart rate increased.  After he was done, she was back to a peaceful rest.  Rhea and I then played some music from The Sound of Music and she seemed to respond to that very quickly.  We continue to hope and pray that she will wake up and not be in pain.   We know that she is in God’s hands and truly appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement!!!  Pl saw continue to keep Mickey AND Norm in your thoughts and prayers!!  We will continue to update everyone as much as possible!!  Thanks so much!
