We would first like to thank everyone for their words of encouragement and prayers.  We appreciate all the love and support during this time.
Mom and dad were on their way to the lake on Friday, December 15th  as the road conditions were deteriorating.  Right outside of West Fargo, their car, driven by mom, was side swiped by a car going the wrong way on the interstate. Always the Good Samaritan and care giver to  others, mom got out of the car and went to see if the person who hit them was alright. All we know for sure is that while checking on the gentleman, she was struck by another vehicle. Their vehicle was totaled but dad is ok.
As of right now she is in critical but stable condition. She suffered a pelvic fracture, multiple broken ribs, fractured both collar bones, has a skull fracture and two brain bleeds. Mom is intubated, and sedated as her body needs time to heal and rest.  She currently has a chest tube placed on each side of her chest as the broken ribs injured her lungs and make it difficult to breath.  The doctors are monitoring the brain bleeds closely and she has undergone three scans, all showing the bleeds are small and stable enough that no surgery is needed currently. However, her pelvic fracture will need surgery in the coming days, once she’s neurologically stable. She has been resting comfortably and responds to pain during neuro-checks, which we are thankful for.  We are grateful for the team of doctors and nurses that are taking excellent care of her. She is under the care of an ICU trauma, ortho and neuro team at Sanford in Fargo.
We know she has a long road to recovery in front of her, but at this point we are taking it day by day and feel blessed that she is still with us. We know with prayers and her stubbornness she will pull through and be as strong as ever!
