Dear friend, as some of you may know I have been having health issues since July, and been trying to get to the bottom of what was causing my respiratory problems. Last week, following a bronchoscopy, I was diagnosed with a non-small cell squamous cell cancer involving my lung and bronchus, restricting my breathing. I was in the hospital for a few days, for tests. Yesterday I came to my sister Monica's house, while the doctors determine treatment options, and a care plan is determined. For certain I will be starting chemotherapy this coming week.
I know I will need help to navigate this challenge. Because it is difficult to breath and talking makes that worse, I am not able to talk with each of you and keep you updated. This site provides both a way to let you know how I am doing and ask for help if I need it.
My sisters and Jim are taking turns caregiving right now. As things move forward, we may set up a caregiver schedule that can be coordinated through this site, and there may be opportunities for others to offer help.
