Welcome to Shelly's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated on her treatment and recovery in one place.
2020 started out very promising for our family, Shelly and Liz enjoyed a getaway to Florida, and Matt was accepted into the college of science and engineering at the U of M. We were also enjoying the company of our two exchange students, Jungbin and Elin. Things took a turn for the worst once February hit. It started with Elin suffering an ACL tear and having to return to Sweden. We also began to realize that Coronavirus was a threat to our country.  Just prior to the lockdown, someone ran through a stop sign totaling Jon's truck while the kids were on their way home from school, and thankfully everyone walked away unharmed. Matt was constantly reminding us that things could always be worse. We had no idea what was in store for our family. Despite having a colonoscopy less than 5 years ago, Shelly was diagnosed with Stage III Colon cancer in late April, and underwent a successful surgery to remove a tumor on May 1st. Unfortunately one cancerous lymph node was discovered, which won her a 3 month chemotherapy stint. Please follow along as Shelly continues her journey to be cancer free. Our family really appreciates all the prayers and wonderful outpourings of support; We feel strongly that this has allowed her to maintain strength and positivity. Watch out cancer- You messed with the wrong Nurse Practitioner!!
