Hi,
This is Rich, i wanted to provide a synopsis of the situation and how things are progressing.
Last week Shelly started having abdominal pain.
Sunday she came to the ER at Beth Israel Deaconess and they determined that it was her gall bladder.
ultrasound confirmed that it needed to come out.
unfortunately it was actually necrotic and they were inable to use a laproscopic approach - they had to use open surgery.
Monday she was still recovering in PACU until late Monday night.
Tuesday they realized that there was a problem with her bile duct and it was leaking.
late tues they confirmed via mri
Wed she was supposed to have an endoscopic procedure to see if they could place a stent, however her hematocrit levels were too low.
Late Wed she had a blood transfusion.
Thursday afternoon they tried the endoscopic procedure. unfortunately they were unable to place the stent.
today (Fri) they are going to try a different method to place the stent.
we do not know yet when that will be but based on how this week has progressed I suspect it will be this afternoon sometime.

at this time shelly is pretty beat - i suspect it will be a while before she is "up" for visitors.
