Micheal Sonderman

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We (Daughters Emily and Melanie, and Husband Andy)  are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.  In April 2018,  Micheal, her mother Helen Goodridge and  Andy vacationed at Siesta Key FL (Sarasota), a family favorite for beach weeks for over 25 years. Micheal  started slurring her words and her voice sounded deeper and raspier than normal. Her energy level was way down, and beach walks were brief and far between.  Her appetite was off, and favorite foods made little difference. Those symptoms worsened through  the spring, and Andy and Micheal sought diagnosis from a neurologist. Initially, the diagnosis was Myasthenia Gravis. However, the prescribed medication  was ineffective and her voice, ability to swallow and breathe all deteriorated. by September 2018 her left side began to weaken so Micheal was referred to Cleveland  Clinic for further testing in its Neurological Institute. On November 3,  2018, she was diagnosed with ALS. To learn more about ALS, you can visit the ALA Association here: www.alsa.org.
