Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We're hoping this will get updates to  everyone the quickest.

Michael is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday, November 9 @ 7:00 am to repair the long-term damage he sustained from an auto accident back in November 2005.  This is the 4th (hopefully, final) procedure on that L5/S1 trouble spot on his spine.  There is no disc left, so they need to fuse the spine joint by performing a bone graft, securing it with plates and screws.  His goal is to walk through the security at airports and set off alarms.  Well, the walking part anyways.  He won't be able to twist, bend or lift anything for several months, but they have outfitted him with a brace and we'll figure out the rest day by day.

He is going to be admitted to Mission Hospital (Mission Viejo) and the COVID rules prohibit anyone from waiting on the premises during his surgery and only one vaccinated person at a time in his room.  When he comes home and is up to it, I am fairly confident he will welcome visitors.

This is not his first rodeo with surgery.  We have seen how this goes and feel very confident that in very short time, he will be on the other side of this and looking at this in the rear view mirror.  Thank you for being in the golden friendship circle that loves him so much.  We appreciate the jokes, encouragement and prayers.

Big hugs!
