Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

On Thursday December 10th Mike went in for a routine surgery.  The surgery was to remove a 16" rod in his femur that has been there for 19 years.  The rod had to be removed so he can have a new knee put in on the same leg for the second time.  During this procedure, he had complications and was rushed to Fairview Southdale Hospital.  Mike had multiple strokes caused by fat particles from his femur.  The particles went into his bloodstream passed through his lungs, heart and brain.  He remains unresponsive but, all of his vitals are good.  Mike is breathing some on his own and some with a ventilator. They did an echocardiogram of his heart and that looked good.  When they did an EEG (brain activity scan), it showed Mike was having non visible seizures.  After the third medication, they were able to subside the seizures.  Mike is in the ICU.  Diana and family are in the ICU waiting room if you wish to visit.  It's always nice to see familiar smiling faces.  We will keep you up to date as much as possible.  Please continue your good thoughts and prayers.
