Our dad was admitted to the hospital February 11th 2017, that was the day we learned he needed a heart transplant, and what a very long road to receiving a heart would be.
Our dad is a family man, music lover, friend, husband, grandpa, and uncle.
Our dad, the man who taught himself how to paint his little girls nails at the kitchen table, who constantly leads by example and continues to do so from his hospital bed.
Our dad who calls us weekly and tells us very specifically why he is so very proud of us. We are proud of you too dad.
Our dad Mike, has always lived a clean and healthy lifestyle.
This past decade our dad has received a pacemaker and defibrillator, he has been able to live a healthy life through the medical devices and medication until recently.
Friday March 10, 2017 our dad had to have open heart surgery.
His heart muscle is too weak to pump by itself so an LVAD (a heart pump) is implanted in a patient waiting for a heart transplant, it’s called Bridge to Transplant. The patient’s LVAD may remain in place for several years until a heart donor becomes available for transplantation.
We will use this page to keep everyone as updated as possible on his condition and progress as we move forward.
