Thank you friends and family for your support and caring calls and messages. I am creating this page to provide information and updates on our oldest son Michael who is 28.

Throughout the day yesterday we received more bits of information and this is what we know. Yesterday morning 10/20/2017 shortly after 8am Michael was involved in a horrible car accident. His truck rolled several times across the highway landing on its roof. Michael was ejected from the car. He was initially taken to a local hospital near the accident and then flown by life flight to Akron City Hospital. Thankfully he was alone in his truck and there were no other cars involved in the crash. David was contacted by the Highway Patrol around noon so initially that is when we thought the accident had occurred, but it was actually earlier in the morning.

At this time he is in the critical care unit on life support in a medically induced coma. He has many injuries including trauma to his brain and heart, a spleen laceration, many broken ribs, facial fractures, a broken jaw and fluid in his lungs from aspirating at the scene. He is critical but stable. The next 72 hours are the most serious and telling. We are right now 24 hours in. We learned late last night that the critical thing right now is the pressure in his brain. He has a "bolt" (I think that is what they called it) in the top of his head which measures pressure. The number they want it below is 20 and around 1am it fluctuated between 11 and 13, so that is good. He has a fever, probably from the head trauma, so they are trying to get the temp down by laying a cooling blanket under him. They also put in a central line and arterial line to assist with administering meds, withdrawing blood and monitoring blood pressure.

Mike has 5 young children who are really too young to understand what is going on. The boys are staying with us for right now. Mike's younger sibling were all able to see him yesterday and sit in his room with him. His first two nurses Shannon and Mary were very kind as they answered our questions.

I will provide updates and changes when we know them.

Thank you to everyone for your prayers and support!!
