Michael was born with heart damage and heart disease. He has had to endured many heart procedures, years of testing, nasty shots and bloodwork, and the worst is the open-heart surgeries at 2 ½ yrs, 8yrs, and now 10 years old.
The last surgery is failing and to give him the best chance at a normal life we are taking him to Boston Children’s Hospital.
They are planning to do a fairly new surgery that involves making him a new aortic valve with an outer layer of his heart. The benefits to this surgery are less chances of rejections, less valve replacements, and additional options for any problems.
This has the potential to give him a more normal life into adulthood. It may remove all his restrictions, reduce daily medications, and give him energy and stamina to run around and play like his friends.
