My dear brother, who never gets more than a cold, became sick at home towards the end of February.  I first realized that it was potentially serious when he missed a Bach Choir rehearsal on Tuesday, March 3rd.  Anyone who knows him will agree that missing a rehearsal for Michael is a pretty big deal.  Fast forward to Monday, March 2nd.  I went to SF and picked up both my brother and his precious little Nino.  We proceeded to San Mateo to go to the ER so that Nino could stay with me, while doctors figured out what was wrong with Michael.  Michael will want me to share that every single person that cared for him at San Mateo Medical Center was top-notch...brilliant, gentle and caring.  After a few hours in ER, he was moved to ICU.  Something was clearly wrong with his urinary tract.  I will spare you many details and simply share that my dear, sweet brother has since been diagnosed with prostate cancer.  He has endured a couple of surgeries and is currently in a regular room at SMMC.  He is the same person sick as he is when he is well...kind, caring and positive.  Always asking me how I am.  Can't wait to get back to teaching music...his absolute joy in life.  Until
Sunday, I visited my brother in the hospital every day.  Now, because of the restrictions due to the corona virus, we can only visit over the phone.  Of course, this saddens me deeply.   For now, I ask that all of you send cards directly to the hospital:  San Mateo Medical Center, 222 W. 39th Ave. San Mateo, CA  94403.  He will cherish them.  He loves his people...dearly.  And I love you all for loving him.  I will try to post updates frequently so that we all can be praying for specific needs as he fights this cancer battle.  Thanks you in advance for your prayers.  My son, Zach, shared today that he told UMM (Uncle Mike-Mike) that he would be praying for him.  My brother's response:  "Keep that up.  Prayer is one powerful thing."
