Michael has been in remission from the 2nd SCT for 12 months as of September 12, 2019!!!

Michael was in remission for 15 months and then in June of 2018 we found out he had relapsed and the Leukemia had returned.  He immediately started chemo treatments in Lubbock.  We are currently in Houston because Michael will need a second Stem Cell (bone marrow) Transplant.  We are hopeful for a second remission the will stick for the rest of his physical life!  He is able to still use frozen stem cells from his brother, Brandon.  Thank you for all the prayers, love and support.  Please click on the Ways to Help link for more information about our journey.

Original Story: Michael hadn't been feeling well for about 3 weeks.  He had some infections that doctors thought were unrelated and after a series of 3 clinic visits, 3 antibiotics and just not feeling well, he made an appointment with his primary care doctor.  After a few labs and a short time in the doctor's office we were told that Michael's white blood cell count was very high and his platelet count was very low.  The doctor told us it was probably leukemia or lymphoma.  He said we needed to go straight to the emergency room and he had already called and made arrangements for us with an oncologist.  We arrived at the hospital about 10:15 and by noon they had confirmed that it was in fact Leukemia.  So, on Thursday November 10th we started our fight.
