Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
At our routine  doctor appointment on Tuesday October 10th we discovered that Michael was in distress and I needed to be induced. My amazing midwife/OB team worked with us to have a safe,  natural delivery. Michael was born Wednesday October 11, at 2:14pm. He weighed in at 7lb 4 oz and 19 in long. He had a little bit of distress , but came around quickly and we thought we were in the clear. 6 hours later he began to show signs of labored breathing, it was decided to move him to the NICU at Genesis.  By midnight it was determined that he was suffering from hemolytic anemia due to antibodies in Robynn's blood that had crossed over to his. We we're told the care he needed was in Iowa City , by 2:00am he was on his way to the University of Iowa NICU.
