      2017 has certainly had their share of challenges for Michael, Jeannine, David, Kenny, Meg and Karen.  Though January started with continuing to  adjust to a new area of the world (Portland, Oregon) and a winter in the Northwest for the record books, it quickly turned to medically caring for Michael.  He suffered his first, major life threatening event with an Aortic Dissection.  This could be defined as the first attempt that Mike's body made to take him.  In true Gabel fashion, his fast acting decision making, and his proximity to an emergency room, Mike was brought safely through open heart surgery.  The healing from this was slow and was quickly challenged by the first series of strokes.  This first episode brought some rehabilitation needs, which could all be done at home.  However, after just being given the clearance to drive and return to a modified work schedule, this past Monday literally brought all of Mike's world to their knees.   Mike experienced another, much more serious stroke. He is currently under constant, critical medical care.  Each day is bringing medical procedures that are designed to save lives.  But the life after these procedures is very, very hazy.  
     Jeannine and the kids are surrounding each other with love and support.  They feel all of us praying for them constantly.  They are consumed with the care for Mike and have established this account with the hopes of being able to streamline information for everyone who loves Mike.  This provides the opportunity for information to be shared in a quick turn around time, and allows Jeannine to get the information to people immediately, rather than responding to individual texts and phone calls.
