On January 1st 2019 our lives changed Michael we ended up in the emergency room at Mission Hospital with symptoms of a stroke, After multiple CT Scans and MRI’s we found out that he had a glioma in his brain stem, on January 23rd he had a biopsy, 2 weeks later we were told it was malignant and unoperable. At that time they told us that they are going to treat it with radiation and chemo.
On Monday February 11th we went to Mission Cancer Center and he was fitted for a radiation mask.
Tuesday February 12th we returned to the cancer center and had chemo education, I learned a lot from this had no idea what it involves and at the same time was very overwhelmed with all the information.
This coming Friday the 15th we go back to the cancer center to meet with 3 doctors , Dr Larson (Neurology Oncologist) Dr Smathers (Radiation) and Dr Mesema (Oncologist) to set up the final plan.
As of now we know he will receive 6 weeks of radiation Mon-Fri and he will take the chemo pill for the full 6 weeks, after this time they will re-evaluate him. We are hoping and praying for a good outcome.
