Update:  See journal April 9 for where to send cards for Micah.

On Wednesday, March 31, 2021, Micah was hit by a car going between 30 and 40 mph while out walking in the morning.  We do not know if the driver was found.  Micah was brought in by Hennepin EMS.   He is currently in the ICU with extensive injuries, including traumatic brain injury, bleeding on the brain, and broken ribs, spine, skull and bones in his face.  The road Micah has to recovery is long, and he will need all the thoughts, prayers, and good wishes he can get.  At this time, we ask that you follow this website for updates on Micah's condition, and what you can do to support Stacy, who is spending every day as long as she can at the hospital with Micah. Due to covid, only one visitor is allowed, which is Stacy.  For right now, keeping this site updated lets us get you the information but gives Micah's family the mental space to cope with and process this impossible situation.

Micah is currently not in a coma, and is able to breathe on his own.  Yesterday, on Easter Sunday, April 4, he was able to answer Stacy when she asked "do you know who I am" with "mom."  This miracle is a sign, we hope, that his brain will recover some of its function.  The type of injury he has, shearing, has a difficult prognosis, but the signs of progress are already there.  The fact that he can breathe on his own, too, bodes well for recovery.
