Our World was  turned upside down on December 22, 2017 when we learned that Micah has a large tumor in his pelvic area. He had been having some symptoms for a few weeks prior and was being treated for what we thought was a UTI. When his symptoms worsened, we took him to the ER in the early morning hours of December 22nd. While we were there, he had two CT scans which revealed a large tumor behind his bladder and prostate as well as a small tumor behind his right lung.  We were sent to Children's Hospital later that morning where an MRI identified another small tumor in his right lung. He stayed at Children's until the evening of Christmas Eve day when he was discharged so he was able to be home for Christmas. We were then sent to Mayo Clinic in Rochester on the 26th so he could have a biopsy done there. The preliminary results of the biopsy identified that it was a sarcoma. At this point, we're still waiting for the final results to find out what specific type of cancer it is. While he was in surgery for the biopsy, they also took some bone marrow to biopsy,  put a port in his chest that will be used for chemotherapy, and placed a suprapubic catheter. Once the final biopsy results come back, we'll meet with the doctors and find out his treatment plan. This will be a long journey for Micah. We have felt so blessed by the love and support we have received from freinds and family. So many people have been praying for Micah and we can feel the love!
