Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.  Please keep the doctors and nurses in your thoughts as well as other families who have babies in the NICU.

Merrick Ryan Kamm was born at 3:49 pm on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, by c-section. He weighed in at 360 grams (12.6 ounces or a little more than three sticks of butter), 10.75 inches long, and his head circumference is 9 1/8 inches (a baseball is 9 1/4). His gestational age was 29 weeks 6 days (10 weeks early).

Once he was delivered, the NICU doctors and nurses took him to a room across the hall from the operating room to get him stabilized, intubated and IV's placed.  After he was stabilized they placed him in his isolette and he was off to see mom in her recovery room for a few minutes before being taken to his room in the NICU.  Upon his arrival in the NICU, they set his isolette, and finished hooking up the monitors and getting the ventilator machine set, to this point they had used a portable and kind of operated it manually.  Merrick was pretty stable and set in his room at 6:00 pm but was still watched closely by the doctors and nurses through the night as he experienced a few bumps in the road.
