Our story begins with Mel feeling short of breath. An x-ray revealed a mass as well as fluid on the right side of the lung. Our doctor said it looked like cancer. The first biopsy came back with no cancer cells. We were then referred to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston where Mel, Patrick and I remain today. After many long days and numerous doctors Mel was diagnosed with stage 4 Mesothelioma which has metastasized into his lung (one large and one medium sized tumor) and two small spots in the bone. On top of all that they also found a five cm abdominal aortic aneurysm. The plan for Mel is to see a surgeon to repair the aneurysm and then head back to Columbia for Chemo. If after two doses of chemo the tumors seem to be shrinking then we will remain in Columbia for two more. If not it means back to Houston so the doctors here can come up with plan B. Probably 5-8 weeks of radiation here in Houston.

As I'm sure you can understand how expensive this can be. We are very thankful to all who have donated to our gofundme account and have made this possible.
