Welcome to Melonie's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.  Melonie is at it again - ready to fight the good fight and kick cancer to the curb x2!!  She is a 31 year Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer survivor and learned in August 2022 that she has breast cancer in both her right and left breasts.  She noticed a lump and went in for a mamogram which showed some spots that were later confirmed on MRI.  The good news - this was caught fairly early. They consider the right to be ductal breast cancer, stage 0, and the left to be a little more of a challenge at invasive ductal, stage 2.    The initial biopsies indicated the cancer is triple negative.  Her team of doctors are confirming if it is present in her lymphnodes, but her course of treatment remains the same regardless so she is getting started as quick as possible.  Because of the amount of chemo and radiation she previously had, her army of doctors are navigating the challenge of how best to treat her now.  She'll have two chemo drugs infused with a 3 week break between each infusion for 6 total infusions.  After chemo, there will be a month wait until surgery to remove whatever is left of the cancer.   Mel has the right mindset in being able to conquer this thing as she knows she's been able to beat all the odds before!  However, just like anyone with a cancer diagnosis - it isn't easy.  She greatly appreciates your support and words of hope and encouragement and we promise to keep everyone updated on her progress.  Thanks for visiting and keeping her in your thoughts and prayers!
