Missy had been experiencing a multitude a vague symptoms, headaches, unsteadiness and balance issues, dizziness and fatigue for several months. Over the course of 4-5 days, her symptoms became significantly worse to the degree that she and my parents went to the ER. She had an MRI of her brain at that time which identified a large tumor in her right frontal cortex. Two days later, the tumor was resected (80-90%) and she recovered well in the ICU for several days prior to being discharged to inpatient rehab. She spent one week in rehab and was discharged without needing any assistance with mobility or eating. She is feeling better than she has for nearly the past 6 months. The diagnosis of her tumor is a Glioblastoma Multiforme Grade 4. Although the diagnosis is overwhelming and difficult to accept, Missy's resilience and positivity shines through every day as we move toward the treatment phase of the cancer.
