I have been diagnosed with breast cancer ... Infiltrating ductal carcinoma in situ stage 2. Journey begins on 2/23/21 I had my yearly mammogram (2/17) and received a call stating there was a suspicious area that they needed more views and a possible biopsy. I had gone back into the breast Center on February 22 for a breast ultrasound and biopsy. The doctor came in and talked to me, the area looked possibly cancerous so she wanted to take a biopsy. The lymph nodes were not involved thankfully. I received a call on 2/23/21... positive for breast cancer. She said let’s discuss options... bloodwork... gene testing... best plan of action.... so far I don’t know a lot, just a lot of waiting. I do know that I do not need to start with chemotherapy which is a good thing. I do not know my surgery date yet. There’s a lot of things that are up in the air. I have many appointments coming up. It’s difficult for me to receive attention and care because I give it to others. I don’t know how good of a patient I will be... BUT I will try... I’m only doing this caring bridge to make updates easier because texting/messaging may get to be a lot. Plus, those who know me well also know it’s difficult for me to rely on others for help. I don’t generally make a good patient.
