Hello friends and family of Melissa. First of all, a heartfelt Thank You to everyone for being so caring and supportive during this difficult time. The love and Prayers are very much appreciated...which is why we have decided to create a CaringBridge site  so that everyone can stay informed. Doing this will keep communication open while minimizing calls/texts. Moreover, this will help us focus our attention on Melissa and preserve  her energy and strength to fight (and win) the battle ahead.

Over two weeks ago, Melissa was feeling quite sick and enduring excruciating pain in her abdomen. Believing she was having an Appendicitis, Steve took her to the ER. She was hospitalized for over a week with a preliminary Pathology diagnosis of "Serous Adenocarcinoma" Stage 4 cancer. Our biggest fear was confirmed today with her Oncology team.

She's trying to rest at home now and prepare herself as much as possible for this procedure. She will most likely be readmitted into Mercy San Juan prior to her surgery on TUESDAY October 8th. She will remain in hospital for 4-5 days or until recovered enough for home-care.
Please continue to send prayers and positive thoughts. Visit the guestbook and sign, send a message or just check in. I'm hoping we will have more information after her surgery and get an idea of what she will need and how those that LOVE her can be of service.

CaringBridge is a nonprofit social network dedicated to helping family and friends communicate with and support loved ones during a health journey. Learn more about CaringBridge.
