As all of you know, Melissa is scheduled for an L4 Discectomy and a L5/S1 Lumbar Spinal Fusion.  During this extensive surgery, the doctor will be building a cage using rods, pins, and screws to stabilize Melissa's back.  The doctor will also need to take bone from both hips for reinforcement due to complete loss of two discs.  Her hospital stay is estimated to be at least ten (10) days.

Not only is the surgery an unfortunate - but necessary - procedure, but Melissa will unfortunately have to miss approximately three months of work.  The long duration off work is due to having two spinal surgeries within a year of each other and the excessive nerve damage that has been incurred.

There are several requests and needs present in Melissa's life at this time:

REQUESTS:
#1  PRAYER
Please pray that all goes well in surgery and that Melissa's recovery is miraculous!  Surgery is scheduled for November 15th at 7:30 AM by Dr. Seladotis at Metro Hospital.

#2 VISITATION
At this time, please NO visitors at the hospital!   All efforts will be focused on making sure Melissa receives the care and attention she will most definitely need following this invasive surgery.  Thank you for honoring this request!

NEEDS:
#1 TRANSPORTATION
Melissa's boys, Corbin and Cameron, will need transportation to/from counseling appointments at 3 Mile and the Beltline every two weeks.

#2  MEALS
Two growing boys and Mom would greatly appreciate any appetizers, entrees, or desserts dropped off at their home!  (Gift cards to grocery stores, fast food restaurants, or other would be a blessing as well.)  You can sign up for meals here:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409054EA9AF2CA64-meals

#3  MONEY
Since Melissa isn't the one creating this website, as her friend I can say this :)  She probably is going to kill me for typing this, but the reality is Melissa will be without income for three months.  And as we all know, rent, DTE, and Consumers Energy still like to be paid.  I was raised with the phrase:  "Blessed to be a blessing."  If you have experienced blessings in your life, would you please consider paying it forward?  What a wonderful way to express our love towards Melissa for all her kind acts of service she has provided to us over the years.   Monetary gifts can be sent to:  Melissa Carnevale, 429 Mill Street #7, Wayland, MI  49348 or online at  https://www.gofundme.com/melissacarnevale

Please check back to this website for recovery updates.
