Welcome to my Caring Bridge site.  I would like to share my story with you.  I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (cancer of the bone marrow) last May and have undergone chemotherapy treatments since then.  They have gone very well and have reduced my cancer numbers to a very low point.  Praise God!  Since this is not (yet) a curable cancer and it has a high relapse possibility, it is in my best interest to undergo a bone marrow transplant to hopefully put me in complete or near complete remission.  On Wednesday, January 25, 2017 I will be admitted to Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls to be given a high dose of chemotherapy to completely destroy my immune system.  Then, 24 hours later (on Thursday), I  will have my own previously collected stem cells reinfused into my bloodstream which will make their way to my bone marrow to begin growing up a new immune system.  This will take several weeks.  We will keep you updated on the process in future posts.  I would like to ask for your prayers as I begin this part of my cancer journey.
