Welcome to Melanie's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. 
As many of you know, in October 2017, Melanie got the news that she had a tumor on her right shoulder blade, which turned out to be a grade 2 Chondrosarcoma. In late November she found out it has metastisized to her lungs and those tumors are also grade 2. 
Sarcoma is different than other cancers as it is by grades, not stages. I posted a picture the show the 3 grades to help understand a bit. Unfortunately, this type of cancer doesn't respond to chemotherapy or traditional radiation, so she is seeking other opinions for treatment options.
This site will keep everyone updated on her journey. Please know that if you text or call her and she doesn't respond, she truly appreciates it and she is getting the messages, but may be busy with keeping her life as normal as possible (i.e. running the kids around and training for a marathon) or she just isn't up to answering.
