Mom (Mearlene Bishop) got sick back in November with what she thought was, possibly, a bad sinus infection or maybe a cold or the flu. She went to be checked and Jenisa (her Physician’s Assistant) thought she might have pneumonia. Jenisa sent her to have an x-ray to be sure. The x-ray wasn’t conclusive as to whether she had pneumonia or not, so Jenisa ordered a CT scan to be done. When she got the results of that scan, she didn’t like what she saw and referred Mom to a lung doctor, Dr. Marc Gottlieb, in Mobile.
I don’t remember the date of Mom’s first visit to Dr. Gottlieb; however, it was at that visit she was given an appointment to have a bronchoscopy so they could do a biopsy on the large mass they had found. Her procedure was scheduled for Wednesday, November 29th. Dr. Gottlieb’s office called on Friday, December 1st, with the news that it was, indeed, cancer. Thus began her journey.
Since December 1st, it has been a flurry of doctor appointments and treatment considerations. She is scheduled to start radiation in Brewton on December 27th, if nothing unexpected showed up on the PET scan she had done this past Wednesday (December 20th).
Mom and the rest of us (her family) greatly appreciate your prayers for her as she walks this journey back to good health.
