On Wednesday July 19th, at 12:55AM, Maya Luanne Jayde was born. She is the 8th child and 4th daughter to James and Jenny McQuiston. Due to several factors involved at the time of her birth (but not related to the birth itself), Maya was born not breathing and unresponsive.  CPR was immediately done as well as oxygen use. Ambulance took Maya to St. Francis medical center where blood gas levels showed that she likely would not survive. A second level done 5 minutes later was just a tiny fraction higher and was just enough to warrant a call to Fargo where they determined that she could be life lined to the NICU. Jenny was given just enough time to get to the hospital to hold her and kiss her goodbye incase she did not survive transit. Upon arrival, Mom and Dad were informed that Maya probably would not survive and that if she did, her quality of life would surely be poor. They chose to fight for their precious baby! She was placed on a cooling blanket which kept her body at 90 degrees, for three days, during which time family and friends waited anxiously praying and believing for miracles. On the second day, there was a moment in which Maya's heart rate was highly unstable and we almost lost her...doctors wanted parents to decide then if they would want to rescusitate if that should happen again...Mom and Dad maintained their faith and told doctors "Just get her to the MRI after day 3 of cooling"! And her amazing story continues to unfold....
