A few weeks shy of entering college at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Max dove into the shallow end of a friend's pool and suffered a severe spinal cord injury. He underwent surgery to remove shattered vertebrae and to stabilize the neck and spinal cord.

He currently does not have feeling below his chest. He received initial care at UW Hospital in Madison, WI and was transferred to the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Chicago on August 22nd to start his road to recovery.  This facility has been ranked #1 for rehabilitation services for 28 straight years and the staff here call it the boot camp of rehab.

We have set up this site to share photos and journal Max's progress, which we are praying will continue to move in the positive direction it has been going.
