Max Freed

Hello! My name is Sierra Oas. My boyfriend, Max Freed, has Cystic Fibrosis. This is a genetic disease which affects the lungs and other organs. About a year ago Max found out he was getting much worse. They told him he needed a double lung transplant. Max had to gain and maintain weight in order to get put on a transplant list, which he really struggled with. In early May we found out he got accepted to CHI St. Luke's Hospital in Houston! We were all so excited. Once we finally made it to Houston there were many doctors appointments and it felt like this was never really going to happen. On June 22nd Max got the call that they had lungs for him!! We got to the hospital and unfortunately the lungs just weren't right for him. They had a few spots on them. So back to the waiting game. June 30th Max got another call and this time the lungs were GOOD!! It was pretty hectic and nerve-racking, but thank God everything went very well in surgery.😊
