There is no way Matt White's Caring Bridge site could contain all of the great stories and wonderful memories of his life.

There are two purposes for this site.  1.) This is the place to share the great memories and stories and, 2.) this site is here to communicate Matt's condition.

Matt loved all of you so much.  A direct quote from Matt " "Never let the person you are with, feel that you have something more important to do."  Matt truly loved living life and sharing the love and laughter of your lives.  We appreciate the texts of support and love.  I will read them all to Matt.  I may not be able to respond right away but know Matt and I appreciate all of your love and support.   If there is an urgent matter, please contact Mike Tomlin at 317-590-8845 (tel:317-590-8845). Mike can then relay the appropriate information to me and allow me to respond when I am able. You may also post general questions to this website that others may have, and we will do our best to post answers to the website promptly.

This site will be kept up-to-date.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

Here is an update on Matt’s condition as of Tuesday 2/5/19.  He has been in the hospital for the past week with pneumonia, belly pain, and more recently an onset of seizures, among some other issues.

Matt was placed in a drug-induced coma this past (Super Bowl) weekend to treat the seizures over the weekend. The hope was to wean off that medicine off on Monday and plan to have that medicine turned all the way off by later Monday evening. Unfortunately, Matt's seizures returned after the Versed drip was turned off. He is now back on a very high level of versed infusion, which has put him back into the medically induced coma. We have spoken with Matt’s doctors, who have confirmed that Matt's seizures will not be able to be controlled without this high level of sedation / medically induced coma.

We are working with the doctors and the hospice care team to develop a plan to move Matt from the ICU to a "hospice house".  Matt may be moved to the hospice house as early as today. (February 6)

The tentative plan is to keep Matt comfortable and seizure free in the hospice house. We want Matt to see one last Butler basketball game on Saturday noon tip-off.

There hasn’t been a final decision made yet on the timing.  Matt and I understand that everyone wants to celebrate his life differently,  We have always and will always have an open door.  We love you! Those who would like to be here and are able to are welcome at any time including Saturday to watch the final Butler game with us.  We will know the location later today. Please plan to be here no later than tip off time noon on Saturday.

Please pray for Matt.  Keep Shartrina, all of Matt’s family and friends in your prayers.
