Hello.
We all know that Matt has the greatest sense of humor and optimism. And we have created this site to make one place for everyone to get information about his treatment and show your support.
If you do not already know Matt had an emergency surgery that went well. Then a few days later on November 2nd after following up on the operation (and mostly just trying to extend his pain meds prescription) Matt's doctor informed him that after the orchiectomy, they found an NSGCT embryonal cell carcinoma. Big words... basically a large aggressive malignant tumor.
Pretty rare for this with folks Matt's age and with this specific brand of tumor. The aggressiveness led to the immediacy of the operation and head fakes with the diagnosis. A CT scan found that it has spread to at least one lymph node in the upper abdomen. Matt will undergo another operation and chemotherapy for at least several months.
The upside to all of this is that this once used to be a 100% mortality rate, and now it is a 97% chance survival rate due to the advances in treatment of this kind of cancer.
Matt is overwhelmed by the love and commitment from community, friends, and family. Even the medical professionals and staff have been extremely caring and sympathetic.
This support is so helpful. We will be updating this site with stories and details as Matt is going through treatment.
There are two main ways you can support.
Sending messages here of support and love would be really helpful.
And making a donation would be hugely helpful at THIS LINK:
https://donate.democracyengine.com/MattRecovery/contributeMatt does not have health care and the bills will be piling up quickly. For that reason any financial support you can give will help with living expenses, medical bills, and various other needs. The link above goes through Democracy Engine and 100% of the fund go directly into Matt's Bank account once a week.
Thanks for supporting this guy we all love so much!
