Matt was diagnosed with Infective Endocarditis on September 20, after many weeks of medical testing for a wide array of diseases and conditions including cancer. His diagnosis came after a long and steady physical decline in which he lost 80 pounds unintentionally, lost a large portion of his physical strength, all of his appetite, developed anemia, and became fatigued to the extent he was no longer able to work.

Our local ER sent him to a larger hospital in Anchorage, where he spent 18 days waiting for a plan to be put in place for his care. During this wait in the hospital, Matt suffered a small heart attack, presumably caused by bits of the infection on his heart valves breaking off and blocking things up downstream.

After red tape battles, a prayer campaign,  and the persistence of his stubborn wife,  Angel Med Flight came on the scene and swooped him out to Mayo Clinic Hospital, where he is under the care of an expert cardio team and infectious disease specialists.

This site is a place to keep our friends, family, church family, co-workers, 4-H family...all our many loved ones...in the loop and up to date on Matt's progress.

Thank you for loving us and for praying for Matt.
