Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.  As most of you know, Matthew was born with a liver disease and had many complications in his early years due to this condition.  He had approximately 8 broken bones, most were his femurs and had to have rods put in to straighten them out.  He also has a very enlarged spleen due to his condition, which means he isn't allowed contact sports (and for a kid who loves basketball and football, it has probably been one of the hardest things for him to accept).   Fast forward a few years, and his bones are doing great, but now his liver is failing.  They told us at birth his liver would probably last about 10 years, so we are very thankful we got an extra 4 years.  We have currently completed the transplant evaluation at Mayo in Rochester and now will wait until we get the call they have found a match.  We are starting this page now so our friends and family can stay updated, although I won't be updating again until transplant time.  This could take weeks to months.  We will be on-call 24-7 and unfortunately unable to travel very far.  We must stay close to Rochester at all times.  We felt this would be the best way to let our friends and family know what is going on because we won't be able to reach out to everyone personally.   We have already received so many words of encouragement and can't express how much it means to us.  Take care and have a very blessed Christmas season!
