Friends & Family,

On December 26th, Matt had a seizure at home, while getting ready to go on a bike ride with Ashlyn. Ash, so much like her dad, remained calm, grabbed me, called 911, enlisted the help of our wonderful nurse-neighbor, and flagged down the paramedics.

Matt was taken via ambulance to Marin General where they performed two CT scans, and then transferred to UCSF at 1AM, where he underwent an MRI and further testing.

Matt has a Glioma tumor in his left frontal lobe. He is currently scheduled for surgery on January 13th. Surgery will remove 80-90% of the tumor. We will learn everything after surgery.

This is all as sudden, overwhelming, and scary as it sounds. And yet, true to form, Matt is determined, optimistic, and gearing up for this fight. More than anything though, our family is filled with humble gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from all of you. We want you to know that, while we may not be able to respond, we are reading every email and every message - each one lifting our spirits, providing hope and light.

We do have one ask: everyday at 12PM or 4PM, please take a moment to say a prayer for Matt, send strength, hold him in your thoughts. We will set a time on the day of his surgery to do the same.

We will update this site with key information. Please feel free to share your thoughts, memories, or pictures. Let’s show this amazing human just how loved and supported he truly is.

With all our gratitude,
Sarah, Matt, Ashlyn
