This journey may have begun a few years ago but didn't make itself known until a few months ago. Several unusual symptoms noticed starting in late February of 2021 led to a diagnosis of a large tumor on Mary Ann's left kidney in August. The tumor along with her left kidney, adrenal gland and 5 lymph nodes were removed on September 3rd. The pathology came back on September 15th as stage 4 renal cell carcinoma showing up in 3 of the 5 lymph nodes. We were obviously disappointed in the pathology but not surprised. Her first appointment with the oncologist is on September 30th where we should find out next steps.
This news could lead down a path of despair but we choose to trust in our God who is much bigger than cancer. God introduced us to a song by Phil Wickham the day we were told that Mary Ann had cancer and we have drawn strength from the lyrics of "Battle Belongs (
https://youtu.be/qtvQNzPHn-w)". It reminds us that this battle belongs to the Lord and we need to let Him do the heavy lifting.
Finally this verse from Romans encourages us as we navigate this journey.
Romans 12:12 - " Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer."
