Mason Weiss was a recent Spring 2019 Graduate from St. Charles High School and was anxiously awaiting his enlistment in the U.S Marine Corps and most recently joined the Hughesville Vol Fire/EMS Station in Charles County to help others in his Community. Unfortunately Mason was struck violently head-on by a truck while riding his bike in our previous Hughsville neighborhood last Wednesday on 11SEP19. He was immediately treated on scene by Charles County EMS and Hughesville vol. Fire Dept personnel where he is also a Member, Maryland State Police Trooper 2 was rapidly requested to the scene and due to his critical condition subsequently flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma as a high priority patient. He sustained a very serious brain injury (DAI/Grade III) and clavicle fracture. Mason is currently critical but stable in the Neuro/ICU, he is medically sedated and Neurosurgeons placed a drain in his skull to drain excess fluid from his brain with hopes to keep swelling low. Adam, Delaney, Aiden, Clint and I along with his Grandparents and very close Family friends the Delrosarios are keeping a constant watch at the hospital with help from family and friends. Most importantly we have come together as a Family which only strengthens our Faith in God and his ability to heal and comfort. We are so fortunate to have Mason’s care and treatment delivered by the most highly skilled and qualified medical staff in our region at Baltimore Shock Trauma. Please keep Mason and our Family in your thoughts and Prayers, we have a very long and difficult battle ahead.
