Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support.

On the morning of Wednesday November 8th our sweet mother fell down, hitting her head in her driveway.  An observant and quick thinking neighbor called an ambulance. She was rushed to her local Fort Madison, IA hospital. A CAT Scan was taken and a brain bleed was discovered. She was alert, without pain, and cracking jokes about "being clumsy". Mom was air lifted via helicopter to University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Around 3:00 her brain bleed had worsened mostly due to prescription blood thinners that she has been taking for a couple of years. She was no longer responsive once arrving at U of I. She was rushed in to surgery to have a hemicraniectomy to the left side of her skull. This is an invasive measure to avoid pressure build up in the brain. She is currently unconscious, but resting. She is in great hands at the U of I Hospital. At this time, she is critical, but stable and only time will tell. The next 36-48 hours are crucial. Please pray for our sweet, selfless, beautiful mother. Also please post stories, well wishes, and prayers here for all to see and share.

All our love,
The Family
