This Summer Shoe noticed that her energy level was depleted, shortness of breath with exercise, a lack of appetite and simply not feeling her old self. Her Chicago Cubs were on their way to be named World Champions and to end an 108 year drought, but Shoe knew that something was not right. She made an appointment to see her cardiologist. After almost a month of doctor visits, medical tests and procedures they discovered a failed mitral valve repair and obstructed coronary arteries. Surgery was needed to repeat the mitral valve replacement and to do coronary artery bypass surgery.
