Welcome to our Mary Rogers Seats CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Mom was admitted to University of Iowa Hospitals on August 9, 2016.  A large mass was discovered in her frontal lobe region.  The past 24 hours have been a whirlwind, but here's what we know:

Mom has a meningioma the size of an apple resting on her frontal lobes which requires immediate removal.  The bright side is that meningioma means benign and the neurologists are confident that the tumor is benign.  The bad news is that we are now preparing for an operation as early as today, August 10.

Mom is resting comfortably.  She can walk, talk, joke and has been a pillar of strength throughout the events of the past 24 hours.  In fact, the nurses in the Surgical Neurosciences ICU were amazed to see a patient walking to the public restrooms...of course because Mom insisted that she use a proper restroom.
We are waiting for a further consult from the team to  prepare our minds and bodies for the next phase.

We appreciate your care and concern. Unfortunately, visitors in the ICU are limited to next-of-kin and flowers are prohibited.  Please share your thoughts of encouragement and inquiries on this Caring Bridge Site which we will do our best to keep updated.

Thank you!
